About Heidi
It is a true honour to come alongside and share in my clients’ journeys. I love what I do. I love watching changes unfold in the lives of my clients and their families. I believe counselling needs to be a place where you can let your guard down; a sanctuary where you can speak about anything that you want without fear of judgement, ridicule, criticism, embarrassment or gossip. It needs to be a place where you can find a holding space and gentle guidance to sort through conflicting thoughts, and difficult feeling and memories. I want to create a place where you feel accepted and acceptable and with this, the courage to stretch to be more of who you are meant to be. My role will be to help you access and bring forward your existing strengths as you tackle the challenges you face. Using a client-centered experiential approach, I will guide you in discussions and activities intended to help you understand and ‘rewire’ stuck thoughts, feelings, behaviours, memories and sensations.
Drawing from my six years of university education in psychology/counselling and from my various professional experiences working with people struggling to cope, I will look to understand what is really happening for you and to find out how we can best work for positive change. I have specialized training in trauma modalities including EMDR and OEI which are unique, noninvasive methods of assisting individuals to move beyond feeling stuck in the grasp of shadows of the past; reducing intrusion upon their life today. I also have training in helping people effectively address their relationship struggles using AEDP and EFT (or Emotionally Focussed Therapy). On my own time, I enjoy spending time in the outdoors with my husband of over 30 years and our three young adult children.

Often people desperately want to make positive changes in their lives and relationships, but despite themselves, sometimes just find that they feel like they are back in the same place, again and again, with old patterns taking over. Using the counselling relationship and techniques like OEI (Observed Experiential Integration) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), we can work together to allow you to respond in more helpful ways that fit with you and your values.
What to Expect & Rates
What Should I Expect With Heidi Davison Counselling?
If you choose to come for counselling, I will strive to offer a productive environment to safely explore your struggles and draw out strengths to allow you to give and get more out of this world. To start, I will listen to try and really understand what brings you to counselling. Maybe you know exactly what this is or maybe you are unsure but have a general sense that things just aren’t quite right. Either way, that is okay. We will work together. On your terms, we will start to sort through some of the key challenges you face, to make them more manageable and as you feel ready, we will look at the changes you may want to make in yourself and your life. A big focus will be on the barriers that have left you feeling frustrated, helpless and unable to change in the past.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Depending on individual needs, goals and personal situations, the number of sessions will vary. We will discuss the frequency and number of sessions you may require. For some clients, a couple of sessions may serve their current needs, for others, more numerous sessions are helpful. Many clients also find occasional, follow-up “tweaking” appointments useful. Together, we will determine the most beneficial and feasible approach for you. Over the course of treatment, we will regularly review your progress and I will seek your feedback on how my approach is meeting your needs. This enables me to adapt my approach, if necessary, to ensure the the sessions are being used in a manner that is relevant and effective. My aim is to engage and support you in the counselling process so that we can reach a point where you feel you have achieved what you want in your life and relationships, or have the ability to pursue this independently.
How will I be Viewed?
I view my clients and their willingness to step forward to make positive changes in their life with true admiration and esteem.
